Dr Niall Armes joins Fetch.AI as an advisor

We are delighted to welcome Dr Niall Armes as an advisor to Fetch.AI. Dr Armes is a world-leading biochemist, molecular biologist and entrepreneur. He received his PhD from the Imperial Cancer Research Fund in London for work on comparative genome structure. He then studied TGF-beta cell signalling systems and gene expression in model systems while working for Professor Sir Jim Smith at the National Institute for Medical Research and the Gurdon Institute in Cambridge.

Working alongside Professor Smith, he conceived a single molecule DNA sequencing method and isothermal DNA amplification process. Dr Armes subsequently founded TwistDx which put the Recombinase Polymerase Amplification (RPA) technology on the commercial market.

He served as chief scientific officer and CEO prior to TwistDx’s acquisition and continued to serve in the latter role until recently. Dr Armes is listed as an inventor on 33 issued US patents as well as on many foreign equivalents. He is currently preparing to launch commercial ventures aiming to combine big data analysis with key recent advances in life science research in order to enable novel molecular tools, diagnostics and therapeutics.

Dr Armes is the latest in a growing list of advisors assisting Fetch.AI’s development. We benefit from the expertise of individuals from a broad range of fields, such as Melvyn Weeks (Senior Economic Advisor to Ofgem), Steve Grand (received an OBE in 2000 for Services to Computing), Monique Gangloff (senior scientist at Cambridge University) and Jamie Burke (CEO at Outlier Ventures).
