Today, we are introducing the
/permissions v0.1 module that you can apply to help fine-tune what you’re sharing and how you’re sharing it.
By launching a generic permissions model to objects within the platform, we can now start introducing fine control of what data gets shared,
and to whom.
How Do Permissions Work?
To start, we’ve included two labels appended to objects within the platform: Private and Public.
The labels control visibility to 3 core audiences:
- Individual owner - only the owner of the object has access to the data
- Public - the data is accessible and queryable by anyone using the platform
- Connected twins - the data is accessible only to you as the owner and your network of trusted twins
These labels can be applied to:
The private label allows you to control your assets including twins. By setting the private field to
TRUE, only you will be able to access the data of that individual object. By setting private to true on certain objects, you can restrict them from showing on any public objects you may have such as your timeline. The private labels supersede the public label.
The public tag allows you to control what data is shared with the public, for example, if a twin wanted to share its business information such as opening times and assets available.
We’d love to know how you’re using that feature or if you have ideas on how we could improve on this. Just reach out directly to the platform team.
In the meantime, you can implement this feature into your codebase today. Go check out the technical documentation for implementation details.Read the Docs
