The Fetch.ai mainnet will undergo a scheduled upgrade on Tuesday, April 1st, at approximately 13:00 UTC, pending approval of governance proposal #35. This maintenance-focused release prioritizes security and operational efficiency, ensuring minimal disruption to network participants. The scope of the network upgrade coupled with the existing governance module of the cosmos-sdk ensures that only those delegating FET on the Fetch.ai mainnet can cast a vote. Holders who’ve selected to hold or stake across: Ethereum, BSC or Cardano are not affected.
The upgrade addresses the ASA-2025-004 vulnerability in the IBC module, resolving a critical security concern for cross-chain transactions. Additionally, validators gain support for importing unarmored cryptographic keys (secp256k1 and ed25519), simplifying node configuration while maintaining existing security standards.
The network will halt automatically at block height 21,267,067, with an estimated one-hour downtime. Validators must follow the provided upgrade instructions precisely to ensure an operationally excellent upgrade. Timely participation by all validators in the active set is greatly appreciated and will contribute to the swift resumption of services. Post-upgrade, the network will resume normal operations with no changes to APIs or chain state.
Validators should review the technical guide and prepare systems ahead of the cutoff block. The Fetch.ai team will monitor the upgrade process and provide status updates via official channels once completed. Existing delegators are greatly incentivized to cast their vote through the ASI-Wallet, the Leap Wallet or the Cosmostation wallet. This upgrade reflects Fetch.ai’s proactive approach to maintaining network reliability. Cooperation from validators and delegators ensures continued stability as the ecosystem evolves.
